JAIPUR: Silicosis patients were accompanied by social activists as they met district collector Tina Kumar at Badnor panchayat in Bhilwara district on Friday.
Earlier, 103 people who had received certificates from the Pneumoconiosis Board showing that they had silicosis had been brought together by the activists. Of these, 11 had died and their kin had not yet received the Rs3 lakh compensation. By Friday, a few more patients got wind of the meeting and turned up – there were 118 silicosis certified cases represented at the meeting. The district collector said compensation to 43 patients had been cleared and the money would soon reach bank accounts. Read more
